Hope you don’t mind I jacked your wall of text, boo (it’s amazing btw), but I wanted to add my own thoughts (see: frustration). Yes, I have thoughts on Gossip Girl. I need some spiritual divinity to save me from this mess.
I think they voiced the motivation through Georgina though, it would both ruin the wedding and ruin Chuck in Blair’s eyes. And the thing about that is it makes EVERYTHING really gross. It totally and completely destroys the DB arc which is the only saving grace the show really had.
But I’m sort of hopeful that the “which man in love with Blair ruined her wedding” plot is a misdirection for this ultimately being about Gossip Girl vs. The Spectator in some fashion. I mean it doesn’t even seem to be a major plot for the next episode. LIVING IN DENIAL OKAY?
Yeah, I mean. I’ve been saying that if Dan released the video that his motivation (which don’t necessarily have to be the same motivation Georgina had for wanting Chuck to release the video?) will be the one Nate voiced: “love makes you do crazy things.” But if Dan sent the video, his suggesting Chuck did it does make it seem like he was trying to ruin Chuck in Blair’s eyes… except at first he pointed out that Chuck was there to object in person if he wanted to, and it’s not like Chuck to hide behind Gossip Girl. I just really do not get this twist at all, it doesn’t work for me either way — as a romantic gesture, as a parallel to 5x01, or as Dan trying to ruin Chuck.
